Fertőrákos, located 10 kilometers northeast of Sopron, on the shores of Lake Fertő, is close to the Austrian town of Mörbisch and is one of the significant settlements of the Fertő landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The village stretches from the limestone quarry to the steep valley of the Rák-brook and the reed beds of Lake Fertő, creating a romantic atmosphere. On the bicycle path around Lake Fertő, Fertőrákos is the first stop on the Hungarian side for those arriving from Mörbisch. It is also an advantage that on this part of the lake’s Hungarian side, this is the only place with a beach and a water sports facility.
